Bringing our conservation message to the attention of the public is an important part of our Chapter’s outreach initiatives. We have developed a course for Scouts Canada’s Scout and Venturer programs that introduces the concepts of conservation through fly fishing and fly tying. Our displays at Sporting Shows and demonstrations emphasize the conservation work we do, while drawing in the anglers with demonstrations of fly tying and fly casting. We offer free fly fishing lessons to all new members, and enjoy an annual day of fly fishing instruction and practice at a bass pond owned by one of our members. In 2014 we established the Len Yust Memorial Bursary to assist the education of a student in the Environmental Programs at Niagara College. In addition, we encourage Catch and Release fly fishing through networking with other fly fishers, both novices and veterans. Visit us at the Balls Falls Thanksgiving Day Craft Show and the St. John's Conservation Area Opening Day at the end of April, and at many of the other shows and festivals in Niagara.
